DUBLIN (May 13, 2021) — SilverCloud Health, the world's leading digital mental health platform for healthcare systems and providers, health plans, and employers, is teaming with MTV Entertainment Group (MTVE) and more than 900 cross-sector partners to encourage and empower people to take #MentalHealthAction on Thursday, May 20.
“The past year of very publicly visible pain and stress has opened wide the world’s understanding that mental health is something we are each managing daily with varying degrees of success. That awareness, and that ongoing pivot from “stigmatized” to “shared,” has been empowering for so many who previously felt alone,” said Ken Cahill, CEO of SilverCloud. “As part of Mental Health Awareness Month and Mental Health Action Day, we’re offering free access to resources that support whole health, and that close gaps in healthcare delivery. For every individual seeking to make a change in their wellbeing, we’re here for you.”
SilverCloud will be shining a light on real-world Mental Health Superheroes this month to continue to fight stigma by celebrating those who are helping others on their journeys toward whole health. Superheroes featured thus far include TrustyScribe, a photographer and artist whose street murals have helped mainstream discussions about depression, suicide and other mental health issues. These stories will be available on SilverCloud’s blog as part of the Mental Health Superheroes series.
Additionally, SilverCloud is providing a special program in the United Kingdom, where SilverCloud serves as the digital mental health platform for the National Health Service. All U.K. citizens over age 18 will have free access to their clinically-proven “Space from COVID” digital wellbeing program, available at www.spacefromcovid.com.
The first-ever Mental Health Action Day is Thursday, May 20. The open-source movement aims to shift culture from awareness to action on mental health. Partners include clinical care providers, support groups, as well as cultural and political leaders, all committed to encouraging and empowering their followers, fans, and constituents to go beyond naming a challenge out loud, to proactively addressing it.
“This purpose-driven and diverse group of cross-sector partners will shift our culture from awareness to action on mental health -- and the timing couldn’t be more spot-on,” said Erika Soto Lamb, Vice President of Social Impact Strategy at MTV Entertainment Group. “No matter who you are, we want you to hear the urgent call for mental health action on Thursday, May 20 -- for yourself, for your loved ones or for your community.”
